About the Chairman's Award

Michael Baker International’s Chairman’s Award, our Company’s highest honor, was established in 2018 to recognize employees who exemplify our Wolf Pack philosophy—that we are stronger together—and who have made exemplary contributions to our Company.

Each of the winners is a stellar member of our Wolf Pack and an example of what we mean when we talk about Michael Baker’s standard of excellence. Congratulations to this year's winners!

Office Executive – Hamilton

Gil is noted for how he crushes all metrics and drives impact for our clients and company growth. He has doubled Net New Work Added goals, while winning the biggest pursuit in the history of our Northeast Region with the New Jersey Turnpike Authority.

Under Gil’s leadership, our New Jersey Operations have expanded by 18% since last year and tripled Backlog/ NNWA since 2022 to a historic high. Gil delivers project excellence with historically low profit erosion. He involves others in pursuing projects so that our firm’s full-service engineering and consulting capabilities are showcased, and then he shares the work across our Wolf Pack after we have won it.

Gil is humble, honest, ethical and loved by his team for his open and honest leadership style. He goes above and beyond to listen to different ideas that make our people and our company better. He thinks of our Wolf Pack as one. The overall success and results we had in Michael Baker’s New Jersey Operations since Gil assumed the Office Executive position in 2020 speaks volumes of his commitment to No Complacency.

National Market Lead – Army

Since joining Michael Baker in 2022, John has refocused our Army program, emphasizing proactive, strategy-connected business development. The success of this approach has been readily observed in the Army Team's relentless and successful efforts to pursue and win contracts, projects and task orders that enable us to protect and grow our core. For example, Michael Baker recently won work on the Army’s first ever Net Zero Barracks, which sets up our firm for future Net Zero projects as well. Not only has John’s team increased the number of proposals submitted, but our win and capture rates have significantly increased as well.

John consistently operates with a One Michael Baker mindset, creating connections and driving success across the enterprise, including with our portfolio companies, where he has worked tirelessly to develop opportunities that align with their capabilities and position the larger organization for success.

Building on John’s experience as a Leadership Professor at the United States Military Academy at West Point, John enthusiastically embraces feedback and mentorship at Michael Baker. This has resulted in greater consistency and higher quality proposals, as well as accelerated professional development for members of our Wolf Pack who have tremendous potential for positions of increased responsibility.

Office Executive – Greater DC/Baltimore

Kyle has transformed our Baltimore and Alexandria offices by developing a vision for our success and leading the team to execute it. He expanded the capabilities and reach of our Greater DC/Baltimore team, while showing our clients the depth and breadth of Michael Baker International.

Through his consistent and proactive client communications – and a cultural focus on project execution and mentoring – Kyle has turned around the performance of key long-term projects and improved quality, while steadily increasing the number and type of contracts won.

In line with our One Michael Baker mindset, Kyle prioritizes opportunities and results in every pursuit and project. His success formula includes identifying market gaps, hiring or elevating the right talent, and leading the team to win and deliver work, often distributing projects across the organization.

Kyle is known for rapid communication whenever a client has a need and has identified a client manager on our team to handle requests promptly, adding value to the client relationship and extending developmental opportunities to our team. Kyle actively supports emerging leaders and has created a vibrant office environment that enhances employee engagement, early career professionals' activities and office events.
